The gas assisted lift chair/wheelchair is a very simple device that works by a slight
transfer of weight from front to back of the lift seat - for sitting - or
in the reverse from back to front for the standing position.
The actual swing mechanism that lifts people is very finely balanced. When the extra
effort needed by the operator to get into the standing position is
required, the gas cartridge will do this for them. The gas and swing
mechanism, if adjusted to suit the individual’s weight and leg length, will
lift or seat them with minimal effort required. The chair is designed with
everybody in mind: It can adjust to a child’s weight and height to lift or
seat them in the chair as it would a medium size or very large adult. The
fully adjustable back with built in lumbar support will cater for
everybody’s back needs.
Both of these chairs will lift people from the sitting to standing position
- or vice versa - from 40kg to 200 kg with a simple adjustment of gas
pressures and gas swivel fittings. Gas cartridges of varying pressures
totally eliminate the use of electricity and give total mobility.
The arm rests are designed to angle upwards at the front to allow people
to balance and push upwards with the least effort when sitting or wanting
to be put into a standing position. The simple design of the chair with
very few moving parts means this chair is very low maintenance. The
locking device at the side of the chair is designed in a way that it takes
minimum effort to operate. It also comes with a paddle shaped lever for
people with arthritis or hand problems.
The two front wheels of the wheelchair model have locking brake levers on
the top of each wheel for safety reasons. Both chair models have fully
adjustable leg and back support adjustments. The front pivoting foot pad
folds out to a horizontal position to allow people to rest lower limbs/feet
in a comfortable position.
When in a sitting position the operator’s legs are at an angle designed to
give utmost circulation to the body and, in some cases, would be an
advantage to people with broken or sprained lower limbs. All moving parts
have high quality shoulder bolts which are all stress tested, used in
conjunction with locking nuts. The chair’s finish is of a high quality
powder coating with heavy rubber base stoppers.
